A Level 2 ASP is required when your EV charger installation involves upgrading the service mains (the network connection to your meter box), connecting to 3-phase supply, or increasing the amperage of your service connection above the current limit.
What is the difference between a 7kW and 22kW EV charger?
A 7kW single-phase charger adds approximately 40–50km of range per hour of charge — sufficient to fully charge most EVs overnight. A 22kW 3-phase charger adds 100–130km per hour, charging most EVs in 2–4 hours. 22kW requires 3-phase power and a compatible vehicle.
